Christmas Time [Dec. 13th, 2007|01:31 pm]
Has anyone else decorated their house yet?
I don't know whether I'm going to bother decorating this year. Our tree kept falling over this year, and I don't like any of the baubles or ornaments that Aunity Eileen used.

Should I buy more? A new tree? Should I bother? Is it all just a waste?

Plus - world vision sent me three children to pick from. That's right - THREE. How the hell am I supposed to pick one?

Adopting A Child [Dec. 8th, 2007|11:10 pm]
A couple of years ago, I applied to adopt a child (one abroad that is, not a child of my own!). I got all the forms, spoke to a lovely lady on the phone about it all, and then realised that I simply couldn't afford it. Student loans don't really have space for extras...I felt terrible for leaving a child in the lurch.

Now, I'm earning much more (telephone research is dull, but pays well), so I'm thinking about trying again! I've had a look at a various sites to see what it involves. The hard part is choosing which charity to go through.

There's World Vision, ActionAid UK, Plan UK and SOS Children that I've found on Google so far. I feel that World Vision is the most trustworthy. (Why I think that, I'm not sure, maybe because it's the only one I've heard of?)

So I've just ordered an infomation pack. It should be here within 48 hours. Yah, cos Royal Mail work that fast :\

Colour [Nov. 15th, 2007|05:44 pm]
you are blueviolet

Your dominant hues are blue and magenta. You're the one who goes to all the parties but doesn't quite fit in at every one... you know what you want, but are afraid of what the world might think of it. You're a little different and that's okay with them, and if you're smart it's okay with you too.

Your saturation level is higher than average - You know what you want, but sometimes know not to tell everyone. You value accomplishments and know you can get the job done, so don't be afraid to run out and make things happen.

Your outlook on life is bright. You see good things in situations where others may not be able to, and it frustrates you to see them get down on everything.

Bonny Baby [Nov. 8th, 2007|10:36 pm]
Eee - isn't he cute?

That'd be Baby Will, my youngest brother. He's 2. Mum managed to get him to sit still long enough to have his photo taken for the Bonny Baby competition. He's been shortlisted! Last year she tried to have it done but he kept throwing himself off the chair.

I know I'm biased - but he gorgeous? His hair is getting really long now. Mum had to cut his fringe cos he couldn't see any more! People always say 'oh look at her hair!' and mum has to go 'she's a he actually'. People will call him a girl even if he's dressed top to toe in blue with a shirt saying 'little rascal' and mum is calling him Will.

Honestly - can't little boys not have long hair any more?

Santa's on his way [Oct. 30th, 2007|06:02 pm]
Is anyone up for a pressie swap over Christmas? Just a small one - maybe no more than £5? I'd like to know now if anyone's interested, so I've got time to shop!

Grandparents! [Oct. 27th, 2007|07:12 pm]
Sorry about the lack of updates - I've been so busy this week. I spent three days at Nanna and Grandad's for their 50th. It ws lovely! I saw cousins I hadn't seen in ten years! I've got some good photos of everyone - so hopefully I'll get round to doing a photo update soon.

Right now, I'm sitting here watching X-factor (and muting it whenthe judges speak), knitting my log-cabin blanket and surfing Ravelry.

I've got a new blog too, strictly for crafts - Sareth's Stitches.

Cheering up [Oct. 18th, 2007|05:41 pm]
The best way to cheer yourself up...
Go to the chemists for headache tablets and sore throat medicine.
Walk past the Salvation Army charity shop on the way back.
Find a pair of size 10 short leg jeans for £1.50.
Buy them, knowing that you're not a size 10.
Try them on at home.
They fit!

Huzzah!! I'm a size 10 again! All it takes is daily yoga and pilates, 5 minutes of jogging, no snacking between meals, and always eating breakfast.

Sick as a parrot [Oct. 16th, 2007|06:52 pm]
I am so ill.
It's hard to swallow, my neck is so sore, my head is pounding, my muscles are aching. I can't even knit.

Birthdays [Oct. 12th, 2007|08:29 pm]
Huh - yesterday was Tally's 24th birthday.
I would have sent a card, but not knowing where she is doesn't help. Mm. I wonder what she did to celebrate. It was Drew's 23rd on Sunday. He celebrated by getting drunk and playing Xbox. Oh yeah.

It's funny how I haven't spoken to her for a few years, and yet I still put her birthday in my calender.
It's Nanna's birthday on the 14th. I don't know how old she's going to be though :\ I should ask mum! (Also, according to my calender, the 14th is also the 'first day of Tabernacles' - not sure what that is!)
It's my Nanna and Grandad's Ruby wedding anniversary this month too. What an acheivement! Mum is hoping to get up to Manchester to see them, I'll get her to take my present up if she goes. I can't rely on the Royal Mail to post anything these days.
God forbid they actually do what they're paid for.

Halloween [Oct. 6th, 2007|11:34 pm]
Yay, it's almost Halloween again! I've been trying to think of a good outfit, as I've got at least one night of spooky partying to do, if not two!

Last year I was the March Hare and Kayleigh was the Mad Hatter. I lost my rabbit ears though :( All I have left if the bow-tie and tail.

Bringing up Baby [Oct. 2nd, 2007|09:06 pm]
Anybody else watching Bringing Up Baby on Channel 4? It's very interesting. I'm pretty sure once I'm a mother, I'll be more likely to do the 'Continum Concept' or tribal method. Having a sling instead of a pushchair, and co-sleeping with the baby.
My mum has always slept with her babies in her bed. In fact, Will, who is 2 now, still sleeps with mum. I think he's only spent a couple of nights in his cot. She ended up free-cycling it. It makes perfect sense. Close to the heartbeat, close to the milk, and warm. All other mammals sleep with their children, why are humans any different?

News Story [Sep. 27th, 2007|07:02 pm]
Eh, the news is incredibly depressing tonight. I know very little of the trouble in Burma at the minute, but it's all just so awful.
Shooting, beating and gassing monks? What the hell is wrong with the world? Any protesters are just being shot down, it's disgusting.

I know that to some extent we are always controlled by our Government, but this is taking the biscuit.

Keeping Quiet [Sep. 24th, 2007|11:29 pm]
The last week has been pretty hectic. I'm so exhausted, but excitied at the same time.
Just when I was thinking about putting Ruin Me on hold till the New Year, I found a new boutique in Norwich, selling very pretty clothes. I asked If they'd like to stock Ruin Me - and they said they would!
The shop in question is Ruby Rumba's in Norwich - be sure to go see if you're close by.
It's all very exiting! EEeeeee!!!

So I've been mad busy all week - sewing, cleaning caravans, ironing, updating websites (ruinme.tk is a mess right now, don't look!) attempting to finish my first quilt and knitting a new sweater.
I'm thoroughly worn out, but in the best of ways.
